The Wine
Old-vine Barossa Shiraz
RunRig is Torbreck’s flagship: a Barossa Shiraz co-fermented with a little Viognier, in the manner of the great reds of the Northern Rhône.
It is drawn from some of the oldest vines on earth: dry-farmed Shiraz between roughly 120 and 170 years old, across the western Barossa. The result is deep and powerful, yet lifted and perfumed rather than heavy.
It is the wine that built Torbreck’s name. The Wine Advocate has not rated a RunRig below 95 points since the debut 1995 vintage, and it stands among Australia’s benchmark Shirazes.

The Winery
Torbreck, in the western Barossa
Torbreck was founded in 1994 by David Powell, a former lumberjack who named the winery after a forest in his ancestral Scotland.
The house specialises in Rhône varieties from dry-farmed, old-vine Barossa parcels, and RunRig sits at the very top of the range.
