The Wine
Oregon Pinot at its most serious
The Marjorie Vineyard is one of four single-vineyard Pinot Noirs that Cristom makes from estate fruit in the Eola-Amity Hills, the coolest AVA in the Willamette Valley. The vineyard is named for the mother of founder Paul Gerrie, who planted these hillsides in the early 1990s.
The wine spends 17 months in French oak, 36% new, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. That patience in the cellar shows: the 2022 is dense and aromatic, with the kind of grip and layered complexity that rewards a few years in the bottle.
Winemaker Steve Doerner trained under Josh Jensen at Calera in California, and brought a Burgundy-influenced philosophy to Oregon when he joined Cristom at its founding. The 2022 drew the highest scores of any Cristom vintage in recent memory.

Cristom Vineyards, Eola-Amity Hills
Cristom was founded in 1992 by Paul and Eileen Gerrie on a 50-acre hillside property in the Eola-Amity Hills. Each of the four estate single-vineyard Pinot Noirs is named for a woman in Paul’s family: Louise (his grandmother), Jessie (his daughter), Eileen (his wife) and Marjorie (his mother).
Winemaker Steve Doerner has been with Cristom since its first vintage, and his Burgundian approach to Pinot Noir, working with whole clusters, native fermentation and careful oak use, has made Cristom one of Oregon’s most respected addresses.
