The Wine
McLaren Vale Cabernet from one of the region's most serious producers. The weight and structure here demand a table with something to say back: slow-roasted lamb shoulder, a proper standing rib roast, or anything with charred fat and salt to absorb the tannin load.
Worth Knowing
Planted in 1971 by Alan David Hickinbotham, whose father was the first person to lecture in wine science in Australia. For forty years the fruit went quietly into other producers famous bottles before the site got a label of its own.
