Chassagne-Montrachet in a golden vintage
Chassagne-Montrachet produces some of the finest white Burgundy in the world, from limestone-rich soils in the southern Cote de Beaune. The village sits directly below Montrachet itself, and its village-level whites already show the buttery richness and mineral tension that define the appellation.
The 2019 vintage in Burgundy was outstanding for white wines: a warm, sunny year that ripened the Chardonnay fully without sacrificing freshness. Critics regularly cite 2019 among the three greatest white Burgundy vintages of the last two decades.
Edouard Delaunay ages its wines through a double-barrel process, moving between different casks to build complexity without over-oaking, and the result is generous and well-proportioned.

Edouard Delaunay, revived in Beaune
The Delaunay name has been in Burgundy since the nineteenth century. The current house was revived in 2010 by the family with a focus on village and premier cru appellations across the Cote d’Or, using a distinctive double-barrel ageing approach to build texture and complexity.
The Chassagne-Montrachet is one of their signature whites: Cote de Beaune Chardonnay at a serious level, accessible young but rewarding with a few more years in the bottle.
