Nikka - Miyagikyo Single Malt

Miyagikyo Single Malt comes from Nikka's second distillery, established in 1969 by founder Masataka Taketsuru in the Miyagi Prefecture of northern Japan. Taketsuru chose this location for its pristine environment where the Nikkawa and Hirosegawa rivers meet, providing soft, mineral-rich water ideal for producing a more delicate style of whisky than his original Yoichi distillery. Miyagikyo uses steam-heated pot stills rather than direct fire, resulting in a lighter, more elegant spirit that showcases the house style of refined fruitiness and subtle complexity. The distillery's foggy, humid climate contributes to a gentle maturation process.
