The Whisky
Islay, in one glass
Lagavulin sits on the south shore of Islay, the small Scottish island whose single malts are defined by peat smoke and sea air. The distillery has worked this bay since 1816.
The 16 Year Old is its calling card and, for many, the reference point for the whole Islay style: deep, smoky and maritime, with the long, dry, peat-driven finish that made the island famous.
It is a whisky to sit with slowly, neat or with a drop of water, after dinner rather than before.

Nose

Rich peat, maritime brine, sherry sweetness, raisins, and toasted oak.
