The Armagnac
Gascony, aged a quarter century
Armagnac is France’s oldest brandy, made in Gascony in the southwest, and Bas-Armagnac is its most prized corner. Maison Delord has worked here since 1893, when Prosper Delord settled in the village of Lannepax and started distilling.
Four generations on, the house is run by brothers Jérôme and Sylvain Delord, who farm the vines, distil the spirit, and age it themselves. This bottle rests at least twenty five years in local oak, in the cool, damp Delord cellars.
Long aging in Gascon oak gives it a deep amber colour and flavours of dried fruit, prune, toffee and gentle spice. A brandy with real age and warmth, made for slow sipping.

Nose
Dried apricot, prune, vanilla oak, toasted almond, and gentle rancio.
Palate
Stewed plum, caramel, baking spice, dried fig, and soft leather warmth.
Finish
Long, warming finish with lingering dried fruit and oak.

The House
Maison Delord, in Lannepax
Maison Delord has made Armagnac in Lannepax, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, since 1893. It remains a family house, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
The family controls its own vineyards and ages its Armagnacs at the estate, with cellars holding over a thousand barrels and the oldest vintages kept apart in a room they call the Paradise.
