Tanqueray London Dry Gin was created by Charles Tanqueray in Bloomsbury, London, in 1830, and remains one of the most recognized and widely respected gins in the world. Production has since moved to Cameron Bridge in Scotland, but the recipe has stayed remarkably consistent across nearly two centuries.
What sets Tanqueray apart from many of its peers is its restrained botanical bill: juniper leads with considerable authority, supported by coriander, angelica root, and liquorice.
This focused four-botanical recipe produces a gin of exceptional clarity and balance, making it a benchmark against which many other gins are measured. The spirit is distilled four times, contributing to its clean, polished character.
3% ABV, it carries enough weight to hold its own in cocktails without being overpowering when served simply over ice with tonic. Bartenders around the world reach for Tanqueray as a default for classic gin cocktails precisely because it does not compete with other ingredients but instead anchors them.
For the home drinker, it offers consistent quality at an honest price point. If you want a reliable, well-made London Dry that performs equally well in a Martini, a Negroni, or a gin and tonic, Tanqueray earns its place on the shelf.
