Talisker - 10 Year Old

Talisker is the sole distillery on the Isle of Skye, operating since 1830 on the dramatic western coast of the island.

The 10 Year Old is its flagship expression and one of the most recognizable single malts in Scotland, carrying a Highland classification though its character is very much shaped by its coastal, almost maritime setting.

The distillery uses a distinctive production process that includes worm tub condensers and a partially peated malt, contributing to the whisky's layered and unusual profile.

Talisker 10 draws water from a source in the Cnoc nan Speireag hills and is matured in a combination of refill American oak and some European oak casks. The result is a whisky that manages to be simultaneously briny, smoky, and sweet, with a peppery heat that has become something of a signature.

8% ABV without chill filtration, which helps preserve texture and depth. For drinkers who want a Scotch with genuine coastal character and a bit of intensity, this is a reliable and well-priced benchmark. It works well neat, with a small drop of water, or even alongside seafood in the classic island pairing tradition.

At this price point it represents one of the more honest values in peated Scottish single malt.
