Southern Comfort is an American fruit-flavoured whiskey liqueur first developed in 1874 by New Orleans bartender M.W. Heron. It is currently produced by Sazerac. It is made from a neutral grain spirit base blended with fruit and spice flavours, primarily peach and citrus, along with whiskey flavouring.
It is not a straight whiskey. The standard expression is 35 percent ABV. Sweet. It is used in mixed drinks with cola or citrus juices.
