Southern Comfort

Southern Comfort is an American liqueur first made in 1874 by New Orleans bartender M.W. Heron. It is currently produced by Sazerac, the New Orleans-based spirits company. It is made on a base of neutral grain spirit, not whiskey, flavoured with fruit, spice and a proprietary blend of botanicals.

The dominant notes are peach and citrus, with warming spice and vanilla. At 35 percent alcohol by volume it is at the lower end of the liqueur category. It is used in mixed drinks with cola, lemonade or orange juice.
