Redbreast 12 Year Old Single Pot Still

Redbreast 12 Year Old is produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, under the care of Irish Distillers, and it stands as one of the defining examples of single pot still Irish whiskey.

The single pot still style is unique to Ireland, using a mashbill of both malted and unmalted barley distilled in traditional copper pot stills, which gives the spirit its characteristic creamy, full-bodied texture and a slightly spicy, oily richness that sets it apart from grain or blended whiskeys.

Redbreast 12 is matured for a minimum of twelve years in a combination of American bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, which layered together contribute dried fruit, warm spice, and nutty sweetness to the spirit's core character.

The name Redbreast dates back to the early twentieth century, when W&A Gilbey, the wine and spirits merchant, used it to market pot still whiskey supplied by the Jameson distillery. Today it is considered a benchmark of the style and a standard by which other Irish pot still whiskeys are often measured.
