Mijenta Reposado

Mijenta Reposado comes from master distiller Ana María Romero Mena.

The brand was co-founded by beverage industry veteran Mike Dolan and operates a distillery in the Jalisco highlands, where agaves grow at higher altitude and cooler temperatures in mineral-rich red clay soils, giving a sweeter, more fruit-forward agave than the lowlands.

Mijenta uses 100 percent blue Weber agave, slow-roasted in brick ovens, fermented and double distilled in copper pot stills. The reposado rests four to six months in American white oak bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry casks, adding dried fruit and subtle spice.

The distillery emphasizes sustainability, from recyclable packaging to fair wages for jimadores. The oak influence is restrained, with cooked agave and citrus leading and honey and light baking spices behind. It is sipped neat or used in cocktails.
