Licor 43, known in Spanish as Cuarenta y Tres, is produced by the Diego Zamora Company in Cartagena, Spain. The name refers to the 43 botanicals, fruits, and spices used in its formula, a recipe that the Zamora family claims traces its roots to an ancient Roman liqueur once made in the Cartagena region.

The exact combination of ingredients is proprietary, but the flavor profile is clearly driven by vanilla, citrus peel, and warm aromatic spices. The liqueur is light golden in color with a notably sweet, dessert-like character. It is bottled at 31% ABV, making it approachable and versatile.

Licor 43 is widely used as a mixing liqueur in cocktails, particularly the Carajillo, a simple and popular Spanish drink made with espresso and Licor 43 over ice. It also works well in cream-based cocktails, blended drinks, and dessert applications.
