Grey Goose is produced in France, using soft winter wheat sourced from the Picardy region and water drawn from a natural limestone well in Gensac-la-Pallue in the Cognac area.
The wheat is milled and fermented before undergoing a single continuous distillation in column stills, a process the brand has maintained since its founding in 1997 by Sidney Frank. Maître de Chai François Thibault developed the original recipe and continues to oversee production.
The result is a vodka with a notably smooth and slightly creamy texture, which has made it a reference point in the premium vodka category globally. This 50ml aluminum bottle format is the same liquid as the standard bottling, packaged in a more portable and recyclable form.
It suits travellers, those building a home bar sample collection, or anyone wanting to assess the vodka before committing to a full-size bottle.
Grey Goose occupies a well-established position in the upper tier of mass-market premium vodka, and while the category has become more competitive, it remains a reliable and consistent expression of French wheat vodka.
The texture is its primary selling point, and it shows well when served well-chilled or used in simple mixed drinks where the spirit's character can come through.
