Drambuie is a Scotch whisky liqueur produced in Scotland, with roots tracing back to a recipe said to have been gifted by Bonnie Prince Charlie to Captain John MacKinnon following the Jacobite rising of 1745.

The MacKinnon family held the recipe for generations before commercial production began in Edinburgh in the early twentieth century. Today it is one of the most recognized whisky liqueurs in the world. The base is aged Scotch whisky, blended with heather honey, herbs, and spices according to a proprietary formula.

The result is a liqueur that balances sweetness with the complexity of Scotch, neither overly cloying nor sharp. Drambuie is best known as the essential ingredient in the Rusty Nail cocktail, where it is paired with Scotch whisky over ice, but it also works well as a digestif served neat or on the rocks.

The honeyed, herbal character integrates well in stirred cocktails and can add depth to whisky sours or hot drinks. At this price point it represents solid value for a liqueur with genuine heritage, wide versatility behind the bar, and consistent quality across bottlings.

It is a worthwhile addition to any home bar or bottle shop shelf.
