Domaine de Canton is a French ginger liqueur created by brothers Robert and George Cooper, launched in 2006 and produced in the Cognac region of France.
It is built on a base of VSOP and XO Grande Champagne Cognac, which provides structure and depth, and infused with fresh baby Vietnamese ginger harvested at an early stage when the rhizomes are particularly aromatic and less fibrous.
The liqueur also incorporates honey from Provence, ginseng, and Tahitian vanilla, which together round out the spice without dulling it.
The use of young ginger rather than mature root is a deliberate production choice that results in a brighter, more floral heat rather than the sharp, aggressive bite common in many ginger products. At 28 percent ABV, it sits at a moderate strength that makes it genuinely versatile.
Bartenders reach for it in cocktails ranging from a Moscow Mule variation to ginger-forward sours and warm-season punches. It also works well simply lengthened with tonic or ginger beer over ice.
The Cognac base gives it a refinement that separates it from most ginger cordials on the market, and the balance between sweetness, spice, and the underlying brandy character makes it a reliable addition to a home bar or a professional one.
