Chateau Lafite Rothschild - Pauillac 2005

Château Lafite Rothschild is a First Growth of Pauillac, ranked in 1855 and owned by the Rothschild family since 1868. The 2005 is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, at 13% alcohol. It was the fourth dry year in a row, with a hot June and July and a cooler August, and the harvest ran from 22 September to 12 October. It goes with a simple roasted rack of lamb.
