Black Friars - Plymouth Batch Gin

Plymouth Gin has been produced at the Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth, England, since 1793, one of the oldest working distilleries in the country. The building is a former Dominican monastery dating to the 15th century.

Plymouth Gin has a geographical indication, meaning it can only be produced within the city walls of Plymouth. The style sits between a London Dry and a more botanical-forward contemporary gin. It has seven botanicals, juniper, coriander seed, orange peel, lemon peel, angelica root, orris root and cardamom.

It is softer and earthier than a typical London Dry, with less aggressive juniper and rounder citrus notes. At 41.2 percent ABV. It was the gin specified in the first published recipe for a Dry Martini. It is used in a Martini, Gimlet and Pink Gin, and with tonic and a citrus twist.
