Bacardi - Superior White

Bacardi Superior is produced at the Casa Bacardi distillery in Catano, Puerto Rico, a facility that has been central to the brand's operations since the company relocated from Cuba in the early twentieth century.

Bacardi is one of the largest rum producers in the world, and Superior is the foundational expression in their lineup. It is made using a combination of column distillation and charcoal filtration, which strips the spirit of heavier congeners and produces a clean, neutral profile suited to mixing.

The rum is aged briefly in American white oak barrels before filtration removes most of the colour, resulting in the clear spirit in the bottle. Molasses from sugarcane is the base ingredient, placing it firmly in the Caribbean column-still tradition rather than the agricole or pot-still categories.

The result is a light-bodied white rum designed primarily as a cocktail ingredient rather than a sipping spirit. It performs reliably in classic drinks like the Mojito, Daiquiri, and Cuba Libre, where its neutrality allows other ingredients to come forward.

At this price point, it is a practical and widely available choice for home bartenders stocking a versatile base spirit. It does not offer the complexity of a pot-still Caribbean rum, but that is not its intention.
