Bacardi is one of the most widely produced and recognised rum brands in the world, with roots tracing back to Cuba in 1862 when Facundo Bacardí Massó founded the original distillery in Santiago de Cuba.
Following the Cuban Revolution, production shifted to Puerto Rico, where the majority of Bacardi Superior is made today at one of the largest rum distilleries in the world.
The rum is produced using a column still process, which yields a light, clean, and highly neutral spirit, then charcoal-filtered and rested in white oak barrels before bottling.
The result is a dry, mild white rum designed primarily for mixing, and it has become the global standard for cocktail applications such as the Daiquiri and the Mojito.
The Caribbean origin matters here in a practical sense: Puerto Rico's regulatory framework requires genuine ageing and quality checks, which distinguishes Bacardi from some cheaper neutral spirits sold as rum.
At this price point, the 750ml bottle represents genuine value for anyone building a home bar or stocking up for a gathering where volume matters more than nuance. It is not a sipping rum and makes no pretense of being one, but for its intended purpose it performs reliably and consistently.
Bartenders reach for it because it delivers a predictable result without overwhelming other ingredients.
