Alberta Premium is produced at the Alberta Distillers Limited facility in Calgary, Alberta, a grain distillery operating since 1946. It is made from 100 percent rye grain, which is unusual in a category where rye is typically a flavouring component blended into a base of corn or wheat.
It is spicier and more grain-forward than the average blended Canadian whisky. It is aged in new white oak barrels, adding vanilla and caramel without masking the rye's peppery edge. This is the PET plastic bottle. It is served neat, on ice, or used in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
